Things were going great until about halfway through the meal, as I was cutting into my steak, it finally hit me: you are going home tomorrow, you will not be here tomorrrow. I almost dropped my silverware.
Last night was our Abschiedessen with IES. They took us to a really nice restaurant where the food was delicious, the view was incredible and the wine just kept flowing. I said goodbye to a lot of people, and it was really hard to do so.
The last time we met, my family was with me, so we spoke the whole time in English, rather than our usual half-German, half-English. So this time we spoke all in German, and that was fun. I’m really going to miss speaking this language when I go back to the states.
This morning, just like any other morning, I was making breakfast in my kitchen. My roommate Martin came up to me and said that he had to say goodbye to me — he was leaving for home for the week and wouldn’t be back before I fly home on Saturday. It was a simple goodbye, [...]
My last night in Freiburg, we had a Drama party. Our teacher, Peter, also teaches at a school in Waldkirsch. We met up with his students, hit it off, and had a pot luck. It was a great last night in Freiburg that I’ll never forget!
