RomaSiena, Fall 2011
Rome was wonderful. Here are some images of the typical touristy stuff.
On a much cooler note, I managed slip past the Swiss Guard (I felt like Jason Bourne for about 3.5 seconds) to attend Mass inside St. Peter’s Basilica and receive Communion from a Cardinal. It was one of the most inspiring moments of my life.
In order to attend a mass at St. Peter’s, you cannot look like a tourist. So, what I did was stash my rather large camera inside my jacket and spit out some Italian to the guard and just walk on by (it took me two tries to do this).
- Bernini’s famous Baldacchino inside La Basilica di San Pietro.
- Also taken inside the Vatican Museum.
- This was taken inside the Museo Vaticano.
- Another image of the Swiss Guardsman.
- The member of the Swiss Guard, well, stands guard.
- Roman Colosseum.
- This tree is actually rather large. I just liked the perspective in this image.
- The Roman Imperial Forum.
- This sign made me chuckle.
- The Colosseum
