Last night, I finally got to do something I’ve been wanting to do the whole time I’ve been here: go to the Tokyo Tower. We kept meaning to make a trip there to see it, but somehow we never got around to it until last night. I’ve been before, when I visited Japan in 2008 with my college, but it was during the day. Sometimes, when it’s clear, you can see Mt. Fuji, but it was rainy the day we went, so we couldn’t. It was a pretty impressive sight; the city never seems to end - it just goes on and on over the horizon. I knew that I wanted to see the tower (and the view) at night someday, so we went there in the evening, after a day spent going back to our favorite places in Tokyo one more time. The view was just astounding. I love cityscapes at night, but they’re even more impressive from 150 meters up. (We didn’t go to the special observation deck, which is 250 meters high, because we’re all running low on cash by this point. Tokyo’s an expensive place, but don’t let that stop you: with some money managing, it’s worth every penny… or yen.) I tried to capture how beautiful the city looked from up there, but I don’t think my photos did it justice. If you’re ever in Tokyo, even just on vacation, make sure to spend an evening at Tokyo Tower, because it’s simply gorgeous.
