Day Trip to CronullaSydney, Spring 2012
Last Saturday, we had a field trip in Cronulla for our Marine Environment class. We took a bus and a train about an hour south of Sydney and were on a ferry for about 3 hours taking sediment samples with a grab. It was a beautiful day and we got to see a whole new part of Sydney that we never even knew existed! After we got off the ferry, we decided to shop around and explore the town. It was fun to discover someplace new, and found out that Cronulla was great for surfing too! There were heaps of surfers in the water getting barreled, and the beach was huuuuge. I really wanted to surf there, but didn’t have my board with me..I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it to take my board on a bus and an hour long train just to surf there. We got take away mexican food from Beach Burrito and ate while watching the moon “rise.” The colors of the sunset were so amazing that day and I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the horizon. It was definitely a day to remember in Sydney, and my friends and I agreed that in the future we have to take a train somewhere we don’t really know just to explore a different place like how we did this day.
