Farewell Concert & Dinner
On Thursday, we had the IES Farewell Concert and IES Farewell Dinner that mark the official end of the semester. It is really unbelievable that these four months passed by so quickly, and it was definitely bittersweet to gather together one last time before we all go our separate ways.

Atelier Sposa (Bridal Atelier)
Last Friday was my last official day of my internship with Sabine Valente, a bridal atelier located just a 5-minute walk away from the IES Milan Center. Over the past three and half months, I’ve learned a lot through this internship, even though bridalwear is not something I’m personally interested in as a designer.

Roma
Last week was spring break, and I took the chance to travel for the first time this semester. My first destination was Rome, where I stayed for three days.

Firenze
Florence is definitely the most charming little city I’ve ever been in, surrounded by gorgeous hills and filled with cute, red-roofed buildings.

Pasqua (Easter)
For Easter, my host family and I went to Santa Margherita Ligure, a port city in Northwest Italy. It is a popular vacation destination for Northern Italians, and once I got there, it was easy to see why: the sea is gorgeous, the air is fresh, and the focaccia is the best I’ve ever had. I can only imagine how wonderful it is in the summer.

IES Center in Milan
Halfway through the semester, it occurred to me that I had never taken photos of the building in which I spend much of my time – the beautiful IES Center!

Milano Moda Donna (Milan Fashion Week)
One of my friends from Cornell, who is studying fashion in Paris, came to visit me last week, and we had loads of fun together. It just happened to be Milan Fashion Week, so one of the things we did was hang around the outside of the shows to see the people and all the crazy outfits.

Bergamo
Located about 25 miles northeast of Milan, Bergamo is one of those little-known jewels that get bypassed for famous, tourist-filled cities like Florence and Rome.

Cucinare con la Famiglia (Cooking with the Family)
As I’ve mentioned last time, I’m very fortunate to live with an Italian family here in Milan. Last week, I had to prepare a couple of recipes for homework for my Italian class, so I figured I might as well take the opportunity to cook with the wonderful people I’m living with!

Le Prime Due Settimane (The First Two Weeks)
Milan is very different from American cities. All the people dress super well, and even the old ladies going to the supermarket are more fashionable than I am. It’s wonderful!

Goodbye, California!
It feels surreal that I’m flying for Milan tomorrow, and strange that I’m not going back to Ithaca this semester. Undoubtedly I will miss my friends at Cornell, but I’m incredibly excited to be introduced to a new world of culture, people, art, design, food, and wonderful-ness in just over 24 hours! I’m ready to have my breath taken away!
