Back in the USA!
After a 9 1/2 hour flight back to Honolulu, I am finally back home and enjoying the warm and sunny weather!

Goodbye Sydney
Sydney has the best of both worlds-the city life and surf/beach lifestyle, and that’s what made it so unique and fun to live in.

13 days in Bali
13 days in Bali is more than enough time to do sightseeing and eating to your stomach’s content of ono grinds, but it’s not enough time if you want to surf as well.

Botany Bay
We took a trip to Botany Bay with our marine environment class and learned all about the effects of urbanization towards the marine environment.

Day Trip to Cronulla
Last Saturday, we had a field trip in Cronulla for our Marine Environment class. We took a bus and a train about an hour south of Sydney and were on a ferry for about 3 hours taking sediment samples with a grab.

Food On Our Minds
Recently, Maile and I have been cooking a LOT. We probably have been spending more time shopping for groceries and cooking than studying, but it’s been so worth it!

Great Barrier Reef
For our mid semester break, IES flew us to Cairns to experience the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest which are both World Heritage sites. It was an amazing trip of a lifetime and had so much fun!

Featherdale Wildlife Park & Blue Mountains
Our IES group went on a day trip on February 25 to the Featherdale Wildlife Park and the Blue Mountains! We got picked up in an impressive double decker bus early Saturday morning and went to the Featherdale Wildlife Park for our first stop.

Ono Kine Aussie Grinds
One night we bought kangaroo steak from Woolworths and grilled it on the outside grill right on Coogee beach with some of our flatmates. We also grilled some garlic bread, marinated onions and garlic with carrots too. This was both our first time eating kangaroo, and I had no idea what to expect.

A week in Sydney so far
Sydney has been an amazing experience so far and I am constantly comparing the food, the plants, the beaches, the people, and everything else to things back home in Hawaii. A lot of things are similar, like the weather and plants, but many things are different.
