Everywhere in Spain celebrates it differently, but Andalucia especially goes all out for this week.

Madrid
Here are a few photos from our excursion to Madrid. During the day we toured the Royal Palace of Madrid, which has over two thousand luxuriously decorated rooms, walked to the Puerta de Sol and Plaza Mayor (two of the busiest gathering places in the city) and also viewed famous artwork in the Reina Sofia Museum of modern art.

¡Buen provecho! The food of Spain
I’ve decided to dedicate an entire post to one of my favorite parts of Spanish culture: the food!

Excursion to Sierra de Béjar

Day Trip to Zamora & Toro

Exploring Salamanca
This first week here has been a whirlwind of IES Orientation programs, tours, meetings, and intensive grammar classes. At first it was a bit overwhelming, but thanks to all these events I am quickly adapting to the Spanish lifestyle and learning to navigate my way around the city.

Halfway Around the World
Well, I made it to Salamanca! It is just setting in that I am actually halfway around the world and I am really going to live here for the next four months!

Off to España!
It seems that the longer you wait for something, the more exciting its arrival becomes. I have been anticipating this semester for many months, perhaps even years, as I have wanted to study abroad since I first heard of the term.
