I and Love and You
Cape Town, I have three very important words for you; I love you.
-
Where the Wild Things Are
The Saturday after class ended we flew to Durban on the east coast of South Africa and for the rest of the week travelled down the coastline back to Cape Town.
-
Lion’s Head
Last night was another full moon so few of my roommates and I hiked up Lion’s Head to see the sunset and full moon over Cape Town.
-
House
The greatest house in all of IES, which I have not yet blogged about yet, is York House!
-
Easter Weekend
It is definitely nice that we get a few days off of school for this holiday because I have been able to fit in a few things (like Table Mountain) that I really wanted to do before leaving, but had to do before the weather turned colder.
-
Full Moon
It is a Cape Town tradition to go to signal hill or hike up Lion’s Head to wait for it to get dark to see the full moon.
-
Planet Earth
To begin our trip we flew to Johannesburg and stayed in Soweto for two nights and took a bike tour around the township, which was a lot of fun. Then we headed off to for Kruger.

The World Spins Madly
School has been ridiculously busy lately. With Kruger getting closer and closer as well as school assignments and tests, it was a struggle to keep my head in my book instead of devising packing lists for our trip!

500 Days of Summer
This last weekend IES took us to the Kirstenbosch botanical gardens for a summer concert. The gardens are beautiful and after going to one concert I wish that I had had the sense to go to some before IES took us!
-
Robben Island
This last Saturday we had an IES trip to Robben Island. The day was beautiful, and tour was definitely very interesting.
-
Homestay
Last Friday I jammed a few clothes into my backpack and set off with a few IES-ers to stay with a host family for the weekend. I was excited and sort of nervous just because I didn’t know what to expect.
-
Garden State
This last weekend we went on the Garden Route trip. It was incredible and the weekend went by fast but we jammed a lot into the few days we were gone.
-
Peninsula Tour
It sounds like we are in for some kayaking, hiking, beautiful views (but where isn’t there a beautiful view here), and more fun adventures!
-
The Story I Heard
Amazingly, I managed to survive the thirty-hour plane ride to Cape Town and I am so happy to actually be here!

Baby It’s Cold Outside
Less than a month until I depart from cold rainy Corvallis, OR and arrive in warm sunny Cape Town, South Africa.
