Four (Perfect) Months in Paris; a Farewell and a Thanks.
I suppose that was fast, just like everyone said it would be.

Spring Break, Portugal-Style
During the third week of April, us IES Paris students get a week off to celebrate all our hard work with a good old fashion Spring Break. However, unlike my normal spring breaks from college, where I might drive from LA to San Francisco or make a few days trips to Malibu, this year I went to Portugal.

Weekending on the Côte d’Azur
With Easter Monday off, a group of my best girl friends and I decided to fly down to Nice to vacation in the sun on the Côte d’Azur. The streets were tiny and winding, the Mediterranean was turquoise and sparkling, and the food was all seafood all the time. It was a fantastic weekend, and I recommend the trip to anyone anywhere near the Mediterranean!

Enchantée, Chantilly!
Greetings! At the very end of March, I was lucky enough (well, enthusiastic enough to wake up at 6 to make an 8am bus) to go to Chantilly with IES!

Learning about Versailles at Versailles
Last Friday, my IES French Art and Architecture class went on a trip to Versailles with our professor to study the sculpture in the gardens. It was awesome to get to see all the things we had just learned about, and reminded me of what a incredible opportunity I have here to learn in France!

Printemps: Dreaming of Parisian Parks
Way up in the northeast corner of Paris, le Parc des Buttes Chaumont is kind of a trek to get to. But there’s an island with a greek temple in the middle! It’s totally worth it!

Cemetery and a Sunset
March brought the sun to Paris just in time. Winter was going was little overboard here, at least to a girl who has spent the last few in Southern California, so the sun recently has been very welcome!

Cows and girls and cows.
So we went through our lists and after a surprisingly small amount of coercion, we took the metro all the way down to Porte de Versailles and had ourselves an agricultural day.

Vincennes under the clouds.
Took the time yesterday to journey cross-city to check out Chateau de Vincennes because it was sunny and I didn’t want to be cooped up in a museum.

Tower Time
One freezing Sunday back in early February, the skies cleared up and the blue came out. It was about time I made the trip over to see the Eiffel Tower.

The Early Days
The sun has finally come out and the temperature has duly dropped 20 degrees! It may have kept me seeking shelter all week, but it didn’t keep me away from Paris. These past two weeks have been a blur of pastries, boots, and Navigo swipes, but perhaps I can give you a few highlights.

Loire Valley, looking good
This collection of photos features a few from the vineyard town that we stopped at on the way, a bunch from the Château de Chambord (Disney World?), and several more from the Château d’Amboise.

Well, Here We Go…
So I’m three days away from lift off. I’ve got two empty suitcases sitting outside my bedroom door, a plastic RadioShack bag full of plug converters and flashlights, a similar one from CVS next to it, full of travel sized toiletries, and a mother and father pining to spend every waking moment with me before the drive down to JFK Airport.
