My internship experience definitely helped shed some light on what it is to be an American working in a foreign environment.

The other day our internship class got the pleasure of having Philip Cleary speak to us about politics in Australia. Phil was the first independent voted into the Australian House of Representatives in 1992, and he also was a prominent Aussie Rules football player for the Coburg tigers.

We visited Eureka Tower, Federation Square, the Yarra River, the Great Ocean Road, and went to an Aussie Rules footie game at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds (aka the MCG or the G’).

Tasy was actually a surprisingly interesting place to visit. Here are a few “interesting facts” I found out while visiting:

On Sunday July 5^th, we took a tour to Port Arthur. Along the way we stopped at the Devil’s Kitchen, the Blowhole, and a couple lookout spots.

Over the Fourth of July weekend I went with my roommate Daniel to the Australian island state of Tasmania aka Taz or Tazy to the local Aussies.

If by chance, you ever happen to be in Australia and feel like seeking this stuff out. And if you see any of the following in the store back at home, then try it!

We left after classes and it took a while even though the workplace is fairly close to my apartment. It took us around 2.5 hours to find it. It took me 40 minutes to get there this morning.
