Last day of classes! |
|
Today was the last day of classes! I don’t feel ready to leave Paris yet. I feel like I could stay here for another semester. I’ve noticed an improvement in my french, especially with reading and comprehension. We’re starting to discover the local spots and new neighborhoods. I leave for Venice a week from today…I can’t wait to revisit Paris the last week of July before my flight back to Chicago. Saturday some friends from IES and I went to Versailles, and I was disappointed. I waited in line for 40 minutes to buy a ticket and the Hall of Mirrors was dirty. My visit was cut short when the guards found a “dangerous object” in a purse. They locked the doors and directed everyone in the room to the emergency exitm all the while remaining vague about the situation. We were led to a small basement room while all the tourists stared at each other in confusion. I was the first to actually use the emergency exit that led to the town of Versailles. I thought that I was sving the day, but my only followers were q mother and child and a woman with a walker. My friend and I relaxed by a pond and made our way to a Crepere before returning to Paris. Last week I managed to check of Versailles, Musée Picasso, Giverny (with IES…Monet’s Garden and Impressonist Muesum), and a ballet that Natalya and I won (also through IES), “La Fille mal Gardée”…all beautiful. The weather is killer in Paris today, but I feel the need to explore my remaining days in Paris!…and maybe study for finals?
