Enchantée, Chantilly!Paris, Spring 2012
- The fog made the grounds of the castle look so beautiful, and also totally spooky.
- One of several sculptures around the chateau. This one faces out onto the gardens.
- Of course, we were able to tour the chateau which was full of art, antique furniture, old paintings/detailing on the walls, and chandeliers like this one..
- After the tour, we stopped and had the most magnificent lunch in a restaurant inside the Chateau. This dessert (with Chantilly cream of course) was the besssst.
- Chantilly is home to an enormous museum and collection of horses, and after lunch we were treated to a fun spectacle!
- A friend and fellow IES student standing in front of the chateau.
- Though the weather was grey, we were still about to take advantage of the lush grounds surrounding the chateau. Here is my housemate in the woods surrounded by budding flowers.
- And while waiting for the bus, we did a little bit of mushrooming in the woods. It was pretty successful! (She knew what she was doing…!)
Greetings! At the very end of March, I was lucky enough (well, enthusiastic enough to wake up at 6 to make an 8am bus) to go to Chantilly with IES! The whole trip was great, even though I was pretty sleepy and the weather was cloudy. We got to see a really incredible art collection that rivals some of the best in the world, as well as a fun little horse show and the extensive grounds. Plus, we had one of the best meals of my semester inside of the chateau… I’m still thinking about that dessert… Go out there if you have the chance. It’s not just the home of whipped cream, it’s also a beautiful day trip less than an hour north Paris!
Cheers!
