Cemetery and a SunsetParis, Spring 2012
- IES friend Sarah, amongst the tombs.
- Most of the paths are paved in cobblestones and lined by trees.
- There were lots of fresh flowers placed around the cemetery, which made me wonder if decedents continued to frequent graves of their ancient ancient ancestors here…
- Roses left on Gertrude Stein’s grave.
- Friends walking down Montmartre steps to get crepes and coffee at one of our favorite stops.
- Rooftop view from the top of Montmartre.
- More rooftops, more Paris.
- Montmartre is one of my favorite destinations in Paris, especially around 6PM when the light is perfect, the performers are out, and everyone is relaxing.
March brought the sun to Paris just in time. Winter was going was little overboard here, at least to a girl who has spent the last few in Southern California, so the sun recently has been very welcome! Earlier this month, a few friends and I got ourselves over to Pere Lachaise Cemetery for the afternoon and did some casual grave hunting. Pere Lachaise is home to the likes of Edith Piaf, Molière, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein etc, etc. So that was cool. Plus it’s beautiful!
Afterward we headed over to Montmartre to catch sunset and a quick crepe by Sacre Coeur. Thank you Soleil!
Best,
ari
