New friendsLondon Direct Enrollment, Fall 2010
Though the tubes and buses are really efficient, you really can’t see much. The group of us staying at LRH took a walk around and found some really awesome things. Walking definitely pays off.
- We walked through Green Park on the way to Buckingham. The trees were all knobby and old. Another really cool thing :)
- I felt like Buckingham Palace was quietly impressive. I haven’t been to any of the other palaces quite yet, but I feel like they are loud about what they are. We all want to come back for the changing of the guard.
- I was lucky enough to hear Big Ben sound when I visited Westminster. I love London architecture so much. Everything’s so ancient looking.
- This is the South Bank Lion. I took a picture of it because I think lions are really sweet. It doesn’t look like it’s 150 years old at all.
- Along the Thames were many street performers, but this was the only painter I saw. It reminded me of Bert from ‘Mary Poppins’ making chalk drawings.
- The London design festival is going on right now in London, and while we were exploring the southbank of the Thames we came across these amazing chairs! They spun all the way around like a top. Needless to say, we all want one now :)
- Beautiful chinese lanterns in Leicester Square. I loved how it was so colorful. I don’t think the effect would have been the same if we’d come during the day.
- A lion that was in London’s China Town (Leicester Square). I love how there are so many majestic lion statues here!
I am continually floored by the fact that I’m actually in London. I love exploring it, and I’m excited to start classes. I think I’m getting used to living here, which is really cool. I’m incredibly thankful that I have the opportunity to go to school here.
